The worship experience at Flower Mound United Methodist Church (FMUMC) is a central activity in the life of the church. The Worship Design Committee (WDC) devotes considerable effort to ensuring a thoughtful, meaningful worship experience for all. Learn more by reading on. Joining the WDC itself or assisting the WDC with worship is a wonderful way for you to serve God, your church family, and your community!
What is the mission of the WDC?
The WDC's mission is to expand and enhance the worship experience so that the FMUMC community of faith glorifies God and works to bring the Kingdom of God on earth. Our purpose is to provide an environment in which members of the community of faith at FMUMC glorify the Lord and discover Christ's call on our lives.
What are some of the specific activities in which the WDC engages?
The WDC designs meaningful worship services and provides education regarding the sacraments (baptism and the Eucharist), the liturgical year, and the worship environment. In addition, we offer education through: 1) classes about the sacraments; and 2) information in the church newsletter and the weekly service bulletins.
How may I assist the WDC?
Members are encouraged to participate as laity in worship services by filling leadership and support roles for the ordained elders. These roles include Communion Steward, Communion Server, Liturgist, Acolyte, and Usher.
Although not directly part of the WDC, there are other roles associated with worship through which you may serve. These roles include Counter and Greeter.
If you are interested in joining the WDC itself (not required to fulfill one of the above roles), we meet quarterly in January, April, July, and October on Sunday afternoons at 3:00pm to plan for the upcoming season(s) of the liturgical year. Please contact Jackie Lamb for more information (contact information below).
How do I learn more or volunteer to assist?
