Stephen Ministry Overview
Minimize

About Stephen Ministry: Stephen Ministers are members of the congregation who support our pastors in providing distinctively Christian, confidential one-to-one care for individuals in our congregation and community who are experiencing difficulties. They are trained to listen to their care receivers and respond with understanding and compassion and to provide spiritual guidance and prayer as appropriate.

Contact a Stephen Minister:  If you are experiencing a difficult time in your life, you may benefit from obtaining the care of a Stephen Minister. You can speak with one of our pastors, who may recommend a Stephen Minister chosen just for you to walk with you through your difficult time. You will be respected, not judged, and everything you share will be held in strictest confidence. Men are assigned a male Stephen Minister; women are assigned a female Stephen Minister. Your Stephen Minister will meet with you once a week for about an hour. How many weeks you will meet will depend on your circumstances and needs. Stephen Ministry is process-oriented, which means the Stephen Minister is trained to help you reach a sense of peace in whatever the situation is that you are facing. To obtain care from a Stephen Minister, please contact
Rev. John Johnson (972) 355-2711;   Rev. Carol Sparks (972)-355-2711;   Ray Garrison (940) 728-0158;   Ellen Garrison (214-797-7660);
Sandra Norton (972) 742-7546;   or   Sherri Lebredo (972) 724-1660.

Are you a good listener? Are you compassionate? Consider becoming a Stephen Minister to use these skills to help others. The 50 hours of training will prepare you to allow Christ to use you to provide emotional comfort to others in our congregation and community and even to your own family. Stephen Ministry meets every first and third Tuesday of the month in room C2 at 7 p.m. for continuing education and supervision. A new class will begin on January 12. Please contact Ray Garrison, Sandra Norton or Sherri Lebrado for more information.
